The test, supervised by leader Kim Jong Un, marked the ninth and final ground test of the solid-fuel engine, built with carbon fiber and capable of producing a thrust of 1,971 kilonewtons, stronger than previous models. The announcement comes in the context of Kim intensifying testing activities after the failure of nuclear negotiations with the US in 2019, during the first term of President Donald Trump.
