North Korea rejected the FBI’s accusations that Pyongyang was behind the cyberattack on the Binance cryptocurrency platform, which resulted in an estimated theft of 6.3 billion dollars. The reaction was conveyed on Tuesday through the state news agency KCNA.
Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, described the statements by U.S. authorities as “a serious political provocation” and “absurd rhetoric that brings nothing new.” She accused the United States of attempting to mislead international public opinion and to attribute responsibility to North Korea for cyberattacks carried out in various regions of the world.
Pyongyang’s reaction came after the FBI attributed the attack on Binance to North Korean hackers. The heist is considered the largest in the history of the cryptocurrency market.
