Kim Jong Un has intensified efforts to expand the nuclear and missile arsenal, in the context of the failure of nuclear diplomacy with the U.S. in 2019. Although Donald Trump expressed a desire to resume talks, North Korea has ignored these initiatives, demanding the abandonment of nuclear disarmament requirements. At the same time, Kim Jong Un has adopted an increasingly hostile stance towards South Korea, considering it the permanent enemy of the country.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung emphasized the importance of developing the military, including through artificial intelligence and drones, and mentioned the possible acquisition of a nuclear-powered submarine, highlighting the need for Seoul to ensure its own security and strengthen the alliance with the United States.
