North Korea, under the auspices of Moscow, is transforming its image into a tourist destination for Russians, offering spa resorts and ski excursions. Although promotion increased after the reopening of the country in 2024, only 5,000 Russians visited North Korea in 2025.

The tours include special offers for Russian soldiers and vacation packages with varying prices. Relations between Russia and North Korea have strengthened, especially after Vladimir Putin's visit in 2024. Tourists are accompanied by guides and have access to various attractions, but the number of visitors remains limited.

Despite the challenges, Russian operators continue to expand the tourism offer, also promoting mountain resorts like Samjiyon, despite criticism regarding working conditions in these projects.
