The NIS refinery, the only one in Serbia, has an annual capacity of 4.8 million tons and supplies most of the country's crude oil needs. Negotiations to avoid US sanctions are difficult given the influence of Russia and America. Gazprom Neft has transferred some of its shares to comply with sanctions, and NIS depends on oil imports from Croatia. The energy minister stressed the importance of dialog with both sides to protect Serbia's interests.
