Nicolás Maduro, the president of Venezuela, sent a message of optimism from his prison in the United States, stating that "we are fine" and that they are "fighters," according to his son, Nicolás Maduro Guerra. He called on lawyers not to be deceived and was filmed during a PSUV party meeting in Caracas. Maduro and the First Lady, Cilia Flores, are accused of drug trafficking and have pleaded not guilty in front of the American justice system. They are awaiting a scheduled hearing for March 17. In Venezuela, interim President Delcy Rodriguez visited an agricultural fair and promised that she would not rest until Maduro is recovered. In the context of tensions, Donald Trump stated that he canceled a second attack on Venezuela due to cooperation between the two countries, and the U.S. State Department warned citizens not to travel to Venezuela due to security instability.
