Nico Antic, a 12-year-old boy, was attacked last Sunday while jumping off rocks with his friends in Vaucluse, Australia. His friends pulled him out of the water, but he suffered severe injuries to both legs and was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, the family confirmed his death, describing him as a happy, friendly, and athletic boy.
Shark attacks have recently increased in Australia, with dozens of beaches closed after four attacks in two days, caused by unfavorable weather conditions. Although fatal attacks are rare, a surfer was killed in September, and Australia records about 20 shark attacks annually, with fewer than three deaths. In comparison, drownings are a more common cause of death on Australian beaches.
