Kass returns to US government service after nearly four years in the private sector in Romania, where he had contacts with local authorities. His international experience, including in Washington and Turkey, will help Romania to have direct links with the US intelligence community. His appointment reflects a strategic shift in President Tulsi Gabbard's administration, given his perspective on previous policies. Mr. Kass has a career of more than 30 years in public service as an expert on European affairs and international relations.
