An employee of Italy's Intesa Sanpaolo bank is under investigation for spying on the accounts of more than 30 politicians and VIPs, including Giorgia Meloni and Matteo Salvini.

The 52-year-old also checked the accounts of colleagues, fellow citizens, friends, relatives and acquaintances. Among those spied on were politicians such as Giorgia Meloni, Matteo Salvini, Mario Draghi, sportsmen like Francesco Totti, Diego Armando Maradona, and the Juventus Turin football club. The investigation has been opened for illegal access to computer systems and attempting to procure state security information.
