The Netherlands, advanced in its energy transition, is facing problems with its electricity grids, which are unable to support increased demand. More than 11,900 entities are waiting to be connected, with deadlines extending to 2035, hurting economic growth. The government estimates €200 billion of investment is needed by 2040 to expand electricity infrastructure. Interim measures adopted include reduced off-peak tariffs and restrictions for large industrial consumers, but local authorities fear significant investment losses.
