Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing a wave of criticism after he compared, in a speech about the war with Iran, the figure of Jesus Christ to Genghis Khan. The statements made during a televised meeting were perceived as offensive, especially in Christian communities, with Netanyahu stating that "Jesus Christ has no advantage" over Genghis Khan. Critics interpreted these comments as a support for the idea of "the right of the strongest," generating negative reactions. Netanyahu dismissed the allegations of offense, explaining that he quoted an American historian and that he did not intend to denigrate the figure of Jesus. He emphasized that morality does not guarantee the survival of a civilization without the capacity for defense. However, the comparison was deemed inappropriate by many believers, including Lutheran pastor Munther Isaac, who described the statements as "offensive on multiple levels."
