Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, announced that he intends to advance "very soon" to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, a process supported by the United States. Following a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Netanyahu emphasized that this stage will be "difficult." The second phase focuses on the disarmament of Hamas, the organization that has controlled Gaza since 2007. Although Hamas previously rejected the idea of surrendering weapons, it recently stated that it could do so if the occupation of Gaza ceases. Netanyahu also mentioned that he will meet with American President Donald Trump at the end of December.
