Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he has given instructions to start negotiations on the release of all Israeli hostages in Gaza, following a new truce proposal put forward by mediators from Egypt, Qatar and the US. He did not comment on details of the proposal, which includes a 60-day truce and the release of the hostages in two stages. At the same time, Netanyahu is preparing for a military offensive in Gaza to confront Hamas and free the hostages.
