The administration of American President Donald Trump has proposed a new round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, mediated by the United States, for next week. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that discussions could take place in Switzerland or Turkey, emphasizing that it is an American proposal. Zelensky mentioned a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who expressed willingness to host the trilateral meeting.

Previously, a third round of negotiations took place in February, which ended without significant progress. Russia rejected Ukraine's requests, including the cession of Donbas, and Zelensky stated that any territorial concession should be validated by a referendum, which he considers to reject the cession of Donbas.
