NATO has issued its first official reaction following the downing of a Shahed-type drone near the locality of Padina, Buzău County, stating that the mission was the result of a "combined multinational effort" conducted under allied command. According to the Alliance, two Romanian F-16 aircraft and two Italian Eurofighters were launched to identify the unmanned aircraft, and after it entered Romanian airspace, a Romanian F-16 pilot received engagement approval and shot down the drone in an uninhabited area. NATO announced that the incident is being investigated in collaboration with Romanian authorities and emphasized that it remains prepared to respond permanently to any aerial threat to allied territory.
