The National Bureau of Statistics reported a 13.6% decrease in Moldova's resident population over the last decade, reaching 2,409,200 inhabitants in April 2024. Although Chisinau saw a 16.8% increase, the majority of the population remains in rural areas, at 53.6%. The census covered 35 out of 37 administrative units, enumerating 2,417,700 people, mostly residents. Final data will be published by the end of the year.
