The largest mobile phone operators in the UK, including Vodafone, EE, O2, and Three UK, are involved in a collective lawsuit valued at over £3.2 billion for overcharging customers.

<p>The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has decided that the lawsuit against mobile phone operators in the UK can continue, but has limited the period for which damages can be claimed. The court dismissed all claims for damages incurred before October 2015. Consumer rights activist Justin Gutmann accuses the operators of charging a "loyalty fee" to customers with expired contracts, including the costs of phones that have already been paid for. Representatives of the companies contest the allegations, arguing that the lawsuit is misguided and that the industry is competitive. EE and O2 stated that they will vigorously defend against these allegations. Vodafone and Three have not yet commented.
