Dmitri Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, sent a direct message to Donald Trump, suggesting that he annex Greenland before the residents decide to join Russia through a surprise referendum. Medvedev mentioned that, according to unconfirmed information, such a referendum could take place soon, involving the entire population of Greenland, which numbers approximately 55,000 people.
He also emphasized that, in the event that Greenland becomes part of Russia, there will be "no new stars on the US flag." In this context, a bill has been submitted to the US Congress that would allow the annexation of Greenland, initiated by a Republican congressman, which would give President Trump the authority to act in this direction. Although Russia does not officially claim Greenland, the Kremlin closely monitors the strategic importance of the island in Arctic security.
