Dmitri Medvedev, Vice President of the Security Council of Russia, stated that all unilateral restrictions imposed on Moscow are illegal and are not provided for by the UN Charter or other international treaties.

The statements were made after a visit to Iran, where Medvedev emphasized that these measures do not deserve to be called sanctions. In the context of these statements, the head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, proposed a new package of sanctions that includes a visa ban for Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill and a cap on the price of Russian oil.

Medvedev also mentioned that Finland, which recently joined NATO, is now on the list of potential targets for Russian nuclear attacks, after lifting the ban on hosting nuclear weapons. These statements reflect the growing tensions between Russia and the West in the context of the conflict in Ukraine.
