The former president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, now the vice president of the Security Council, stated that the U.S. military operation in Venezuela could inspire similar actions in Europe, suggesting the kidnapping of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Medvedev claimed that such an action could be an "excellent twist" in the current context and mentioned that there are grounds for criminal prosecution of Merz in Germany. He also criticized the Trump administration for its statements regarding the legitimacy of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who has been arrested by the U.S. Medvedev also attacked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, arguing that his mandate has expired, although according to the Constitution of Ukraine, Zelensky remains in office during wartime.
