Massive protests in Spain due to the humanitarian crisis in Ceuta. 50,000 people on the streets in Madrid.

Tens of thousands of Spaniards took to the streets on Wednesday to protest against the humanitarian crisis in Ceuta and the way Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's government has handled the situation.

In Madrid, authorities estimated that around 50,000 people participated in the demonstration, and significant protests also took place in cities like Barcelona, Valencia, and Seville. After the protest in Madrid concluded, gunfire and explosions were heard, and the police intervened with rubber bullets and tear gas. The protesters, many waving Spanish flags, chanted against the Prime Minister and the migrants in Ceuta, where approximately 5,000 migrants, including 1,200 minors, remain stranded.

The crisis erupted at the end of July, when 72,000 people attempted to cross into Ceuta, and local authorities accuse the central government of negligence. The regional leader of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, stated that the situation represents a violation of Spain's territorial integrity, and the Popular Party and Vox have turned the crisis into a major theme of political confrontation.
