Protests in Albania against a luxury tourist complex project supported by Jared Kushner, Donald Trump's son-in-law, have intensified. On Wednesday, for the third consecutive day, thousands of people took to the streets of Tirana, carrying inflatable flamingos, which have become a symbol of opposition to the potential ecological impact of the project.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has proposed meetings with the protesters but stated that the investment will not be stopped.

Opponents of the project, including the environmental organization PPNEA, denounce the lack of transparency and public consultation. The project, valued at $1.6 billion, threatens the region's biodiversity, including endangered species. Additionally, the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office in Albania has opened an investigation into the controversial legislative changes in 2024 regarding protected areas.

Rama argues that the project is essential for attracting investments, but public discontent is more focused on the government and the management of the situation than on Kushner.
