A massive landslide occurred in the town of Niscemi, Sicily, on January 25, causing the evacuation of over 1,000 people. A portion of 4 kilometers of land collapsed following heavy rains, and local authorities continue to monitor the situation, fearing further landslides.
Although the material damage is significant, estimated at around 740 million euros, no deaths or injuries have been reported. The police, firefighters, and civil protection in Italy are collaborating to develop an emergency plan, and schools in the area have been closed due to the damage to the main boulevard and the destruction of some houses and vehicles.
