A large protest against mass tourism took place in Palma de Mallorca, attracting approximately 25,000 participants. The police intervened with rubber bullets and batons, according to reports from The Telegraph and Majorca Daily Bulletin.
The protest began with the reading of a manifesto but intensified during the march towards Parc de la Mar, where protesters were stopped by law enforcement, causing clashes. Following the altercations, eight people were injured, two of whom required hospitalization, and one protester was arrested. The local police announced an investigation to assess the use of force by officers.
These protests are not new, as residents express dissatisfaction with the excessive number of tourists, with Mallorca receiving over 13 million visitors in 2025, despite having a population of under 1 million.
