The National Rally party, led by Marine Le Pen, has rejected an offer of public support from the Trump administration, citing electoral risks.

A US State Department delegation met with officials from Marine Le Pen's party, but the offer of public support was declined. Le Pen, banned from running, could have benefited from Trump's backing, but RN officials believe it could hurt their chances in the 2027 election. Although they have had discussions about freedom of speech, the US backing is perceived as a disadvantage in Europe. Le Pen and the RN want to act as independent entities.
