Marco Rubio, the head of American diplomacy, warns that the USA might resort to force in Venezuela if the authorities do not comply with Washington's wishes.

The head of American diplomacy will deliver a speech today in which he will warn that the United States is prepared to resort to force in Venezuela again if the authorities do not comply with Washington's demands. This comes after the capture of former leader Nicolas Maduro, accused of drug trafficking. Rubio will emphasize that Delcy Rodríguez, the interim leader, is aware of Maduro's reserved fate and that her personal interests align with American objectives. He will also mention that, although there is no war against Venezuela, the U.S. still retains the option to intervene militarily. Additionally, reports from American intelligence raise questions about Rodríguez's loyalty to the U.S. strategy, in the context where Washington wants to limit the influence of countries like Iran, China, and Russia in Venezuela. Although Rodríguez has signed oil agreements with the U.S. and released political prisoners, she has expressed dissatisfaction with American intervention. Rubio will also meet with María Corina Machado, the opposition leader, considered a long-term option for the leadership of Venezuela.
