During the meeting between Donald Trump and Volodimir Zelensky, a map of Ukraine was used to highlight Russian-controlled territories, representing about 20% of the country. This map was interpreted by the BBC and Kyiv Post as a tool by which Trump could pressure Zelenski to accept a peace swap of territories. While Zelenski appreciated the map, the Ukrainian population remains reluctant to cede territory, especially in the context of Putin's demands over the Donbas. The war continues to severely affect the situation in Ukraine, with significant human casualties predicted.
