A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after hitting several pedestrians with his car in London. Four pedestrians were taken to hospital.

<p>The incident happened in the early hours of Christmas Day on Shaftesbury Avenue in Covent Garden. The driver was arrested after striking several pedestrians, one of whom remains in a serious condition. Police said the driver had been involved in an altercation at a nightclub before committing the crime. There is no suspicion of terrorism.
