Jacob Samuel Winkler was arrested after he aimed a red laser at Marine One, President Donald Trump's helicopter, as it was taking off from the White House. The incident, which occurred at low altitude, was observed by a Secret Service officer, who noted the risks of temporary blindness and disorientation for the pilot. Winkler, who was not wearing a shirt and was behaving loudly, later admitted to aiming the laser and claimed he did not know it was illegal. Aiming a laser at an aircraft is a federal offense, punishable by up to five years in prison.
