The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, has called on Donald Trump not to lead the US into an "eternal war," referring to the increased presence of American military in the region, including the arrival of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford. In a speech, Maduro called for peace, emphasizing that Venezuela should not become a new theater of war, similar to Afghanistan or Libya.

The Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, announced Operation Southern Spear, mentioning that the US will protect the western hemisphere from "narcoterrorists." Observers consider the military deployment as an attempt to overthrow Maduro's regime, in the context where Venezuela is not a major cocaine producer.

In response, Venezuelan officials warned that they are prepared for an attack, having defense plans that include guerrilla tactics. This tense situation reflects an escalation of the conflict between the US and Venezuela, with significant geopolitical implications.
