Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has announced that he is prepared to declare a state of emergency, citing an alleged threat of 'aggression' from the USA.

The statement comes in the wake of lethal attacks by the U.S. on alleged Venezuelan drug boats. Vice President Delcy Rodriguez presented a decree that grants Maduro 'special powers' as head of state to act on defense and security issues in the event that the U.S. 'dares to attack our homeland.'
