German Chancellor Friedrich Merz urged caution, suggesting that the Americans are 'playing' with the fate of Ukraine and Europe.

Other European leaders, such as Finnish President Alexander Stubb and NATO chief Mark Rutte, agreed that Zelensky should not be left alone in negotiations with American officials. The discussions also included organizing a meeting with Witkoff and Kushner, but opinions were divided regarding the participation of top leaders.
