The documents disclosed by Der Spiegel show that European leaders have sent clear warnings to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding negotiations with American emissaries Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the risk that the U.S. might 'betray' Ukraine concerning territories, without clear security guarantees, which could create a 'great danger.' German Chancellor Friedrich Merz urged caution, suggesting that the Americans are 'playing' with the fate of Ukraine and Europe.

Other European leaders, such as Finnish President Alexander Stubb and NATO chief Mark Rutte, agreed that Zelensky should not be left alone in negotiations with American officials. The discussions also included organizing a meeting with Witkoff and Kushner, but opinions were divided regarding the participation of top leaders.
