The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, will lead a crisis meeting of the Government on Monday, in the context of the wildfires affecting the southwest of the country, especially the area around the city of Bordeaux.

The fires, exacerbated by weather forecasts predicting extreme temperatures, have led to the evacuation of tens of thousands of people from the Gironde region. The mayor of Bordeaux, Thomas Cazenave, mentioned that the fire is 15 kilometers from the city, but there are no evacuation plans for the 850,000 residents of the urban area. The Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, stated that the situation remains "very unfavorable," and the fire frequently changes direction. Macron has promised support for the affected communities and the reconstruction of the devastated areas.

Additionally, meteorologists warn that starting Tuesday, temperatures could reach 40 degrees Celsius in several regions of France, which risks further complicating the firefighters' intervention.

At the same time, Spain is facing severe wildfires, evacuating approximately 15,000 people near the city of Valencia. The fires in both countries have led to the destruction of tens of thousands of hectares of vegetation, being considered among the worst in recent history.
