The French leader Emmanuel Macron sent a letter to his American counterpart, Donald Trump, requesting a reconsideration of the sanctions imposed by the United States on certain European citizens, including Judge Nicolas Guillou from the International Criminal Court and former European Commissioner Thierry Breton.
Macron argued that these sanctions, adopted last December, are 'unjustified'. The sanctions target individuals accused of supporting the censorship of speech on American platforms, and Senator Marco Rubio claims that they coordinated efforts to force platforms to limit American viewpoints. In the case of Thierry Breton, Washington cited his involvement in drafting the Digital Services Act, which led to sanctions against several American platforms.
