On Friday morning, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, condemned the drone attack on the military base in Erbil, Iraq, which resulted in the death of Chief Warrant Officer Arnaud Frion from the 7th Alpine Hunters Battalion. In a post on X, Macron expressed condolences to the soldier's family and comrades, emphasizing that the attack is "unacceptable."

He reaffirmed France's commitment to the fight against Daesh, stating that the presence of French soldiers in Iraq is strictly dedicated to combating terrorism. Following the attack, six French soldiers were injured during joint exercises with the Peshmerga forces. Macron assured support from France for the injured soldiers and their families, in the context of the escalating conflict in the Middle East, which has entered its 14th day.
