The Louvre, one of the most important tourist attractions in France, was closed Monday morning due to a 'social movement', according to an announcement on the museum's website. A general assembly of the staff was convened at the request of three unions to decide whether to resume the strike that began on December 15 and ended on December 19. The unions criticized the responses from the Ministry of Culture, deeming them insufficient and inappropriate to the realities faced by the staff. Among their demands are the reform of the museum's governance, the creation of new jobs, and the abandonment of differential pricing, which will be implemented in January. The general assembly will decide whether the museum will remain closed during the Christmas holiday period.
