The American Secretary of Labor, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, announced that she will leave Donald Trump's administration, according to a statement from the White House.
Installed in March 2025, she becomes the third woman to leave the government in a few weeks, following the dismissal of other officials. Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, praised her contributions to protecting American workers and implementing fair labor practices. However, her tenure has been marked by scandals, including an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a subordinate and accusations of alcohol consumption during work hours. She has also been targeted by complaints regarding a toxic work environment.
Keith Sonderling will take over as acting head of the department.
