Lithuania is intensifying its defense measures in the face of threats from Russia and Belarus, preparing the demolition of key bridges at the eastern borders. These measures, agreed upon in July, include the installation of engineering structures on bridges, which will allow for the attachment of explosives, thus facilitating their destruction in case of an attack. The Lithuanian armed forces have selected bridges based on strategic importance and natural obstacles in the area. Additionally, the army has established sites for anti-tank obstacles and is carrying out tree planting and trench deepening works to create additional trenches and barriers. Major Gintautas Čiūnis emphasized that the threat from Russia is constant, and ongoing preparation is essential for effective deterrence.
