The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, stated that an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine would equate to a renunciation of addressing the fundamental causes of the conflict. Lavrov criticized calls from Washington for a truce, arguing that such an action would leave part of Ukraine under a "Nazi regime" and would ignore issues related to the banned language in that region. His statements came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, along with European leaders, advocated for a ceasefire based on the current front line. Additionally, Lavrov mentioned that he agreed with American Secretary of State Marco Rubio to maintain constant contact to discuss the current situation and prepare for a meeting between Presidents Putin and Trump, proposed to take place in Budapest.
