The Kremlin has dismissed rumors of a possible fall from grace for Lavrov in front of Vladimir Putin, in the context of a summit between the Russian president and Donald Trump being suspended.

Lavrov stressed the importance of discussions regarding the Ukrainian issue and the bilateral agenda, mentioning that they are open to face-to-face meetings. It was also reported that Washington canceled the summit due to messages from Moscow indicating a lack of willingness to concede to American demands related to Ukraine.
