In an interview, Lavrov denied attacks on civilian targets, claiming that Russia was only aiming at military targets. He also said there was no planned meeting between Putin and Zelensky, stressing that the agenda must be relevant. Lavrov avoided the term "invasion" and insisted on Russia's desire to maintain the occupied territories. At the same time, he questioned Zelensky's legitimacy, citing the postponement of elections in Ukraine.
