Kim Yo Jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, appreciated the regrets of South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, considering them a "wise decision". He presented apologies for the incident in January, when civilian drones were sent into North Korea.

In a statement from the official KCNA agency, Kim Yo Jong welcomed Lee's statements as a manifestation of honesty and openness, but warned against any provocations from Seoul. Initially, the South Korean government denied official involvement in the incursion, but Lee later acknowledged that government officials were involved. Kim Yo Jong emphasized that the Republic of Korea will pay if such provocations are repeated, in the context of the ongoing tensions between the two states.

Lee Jae Myung expressed his desire to resume dialogue with the North, but Kim Jong Un has repeatedly rejected this offer, maintaining tensions in the region. The two countries have never signed a peace treaty after the Korean War, which ended with an armistice.
