Set to open on July 2, 2025, the Wonsan Kalma resort is a new tourist project in North Korea designed to attract tourists, especially from Russia. Although leader Kim Jong Un is promoting it as a world-class destination, its construction has been marked by criticism from human rights organizations, which point to harsh working conditions for the workers involved. Despite the controversy, the first groups of Russian tourists have started to visit the complex, which includes numerous hotels and leisure facilities.
