Kazakhstan and China are intensifying cooperation in the field of renewable energy through the development of three major projects, with a total value of over 2 billion dollars, aimed at promoting green energy and supporting Kazakhstan's carbon neutrality goals. Recently, the Kazakh Senate approved a bill ratifying an agreement signed at the COP-29 climate forum, allowing for the development of wind farms and a solar power plant.
The projects include two wind farms with a total capacity of 1.5 GW and a solar power plant of 300 MW, which will be built in the Pavlodar, Karaganda, and Turkistan regions, between 2027 and 2029. The initiative will generate over 200 permanent jobs and 2,000 temporary jobs, contributing to Kazakhstan's goal of obtaining 15% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030. The adopted law facilitates the implementation of the projects, simplifying the acquisition of land and necessary permits.
