Kaja Kallas, head of the European Union's diplomacy, stated that former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder is not suitable to represent Europe in peace negotiations to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Her comments come in response to suggestions from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who proposed that Schröder be the European negotiator.

Kallas emphasized that accepting a negotiator appointed by Russia would be unwise and highlighted Schröder's work as a lobbyist for Russian state companies. Currently, the U.S. plays a leading role in the negotiations between the two countries, and some European leaders are calling for more active involvement from Europe. Kallas mentioned that Russia must make concessions, such as withdrawing troops from Moldova, to facilitate lasting security in the region. She underscored that the issue of European security is exacerbated by Russia's constant aggressions against its neighbors.
