In a joint statement, the AFP, AP, Reuters and BBC news agencies call on Israel to allow journalists access to and from Gaza, highlighting the difficult conditions in which they live. Journalists face extreme hunger and severe deprivation and the UN and NGOs warn of the risk of famine in the area. Israel accuses Hamas of diverting aid, while the Committee to Protect Journalists calls for immediate action to support affected journalists. Recent attacks in Gaza have also led to heavy loss of life, including among journalists.
