Japan's ruling coalition is on course to lose its majority in the upper house, which could create significant political instability, according to a exit poll. Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, who has already lost control of the Lower House, is facing mounting pressure as he needs 50 seats to maintain his majority. The Liberal Democratic Liberal Party's poor showing in recent elections makes it vulnerable to no-confidence motions.
