According to government sources, Japan will not recognize the Palestinian state anytime soon, likely due to its relations with the United States and to avoid a negative reaction from Israel. Although Japan voted for a declaration supporting the two-state solution, Japanese officials continue to assess the recognition of Palestinian statehood.
