Jair Bolsonaro, Brazil's former president, is being questioned in the Supreme Court on 2022 coup attempt charges. He is accused of leading a criminal organization that plotted to prevent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's return to power. Bolsonaro, who faces up to 40 years in prison, claims he is the victim of political persecution and is preparing to defend his innocence before judge Alexandre de Moraes. The hearings are being broadcast live and the verdict is expected in a few months.
