The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs contests the conclusions of an American investigation that accused two Italian producers of selling at unfair prices. The new tax, which would be added to a general tariff of 15%, would come into effect in January 2026 and would lead to a doubling of the prices of Italian pasta. The United States represents a major market for Italian pasta, with annual exports of nearly 800 million dollars.
